Harriet Elinor Smith

Smith joined the Mark Twain Project’s editorial staff in 1977. Since becoming a principal editor in 1989, she has prepared numerous editions of Twain’s literary works and letters, all published by UC Press. She is now at work on Volumes 2 and 3 of the Autobiography of Mark Twain. Smith earned a B.A. from Berkeley in comparative literature with specialties in Latin and Italian.
