Kira Stoll was the 2016 recipient of the Sustainability Champion Award at the California Higher Education Sustainability Conference for her critical role in transforming campus operations as well as providing leadership for UC system-wide initiatives. At the campus level, Stoll has spearheaded a solar energy procurement project to bring 1 million watts of photovoltaic energy to campus through a collaborative RFQ with 19 other public agencies. She has also worked diligently to improve alternative transportation options on campus and reduce greenhouse gas emissions from operations. In her system-wide role as co-chair of the Climate Change Working Group and representative to the UC Global Climate Leadership Council, she has advocated for staff engagement and climate action planning that has driven progress toward UC’s goal to be carbon neutral by 2025.
