David Sunding

Sunding is the Thomas J. Graff Professor in Environmental and Resource Economics in the College of Natural Resources and chair of the department of agricultural and resource economics. He received his Ph.D. in agricultural and resource economics form Berkeley in 1989 and is the founding director of the Berkeley Water Center. Previously, he served as a senior economist at the President’s Council of Economic Advisers. As an internationally recognized authority on the economics of water markets, Sunding frequently advises on the development and evaluation of environmental and natural resource policies. He has served on panels of the National Academy of Sciences and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Science Advisory Board, and has advised federal agencies and state governments. He is currently assisting the State of California with its development of the $25 billion Bay Delta Conservation Plan.
